Hit the Bar Vs KF Soldiers

This week's opposition was KF Soldiers, the perennial whipping boys of division 5. The squad numbered six this week, but not a six you would have picked out a few weeks ago. Regulars Squirrel, Dancing, G-Man and Nez were joined by the defensive rock that is Pete, and astonishingly, Owen, whose come-back was largely due to the fact that it's not good practice to turn up at an interview smelling of weed. The lateness of the hour saw a sluggish start to the game, with both teams giving a good display of how not to play football. The first half was so uninspiring that it's difficult to remember in what order the goals went in, or indeed who scored them, suffice to say Hit The Bar led 6-2 at half-time. As the game progressed, tiredness was fast approaching and some of the team were getting a little grouchy. Nez had a bit of a whinge at G-Man, which resulted in a few heated words being exchanged, but at least neither left the pitch empty-handed as they both took home a BITCHIN' BUM BANDITS award. Back to the action, and HTB although playing badly, were clearly the better team and took advantage of KFS's fast-disappearing defence. They eventually went away with a comfortable 13-6 win.
Squirrel - An otherwise reasonable game was marred by a Grade A, First Class, Dual Honours, With Distinction, Blunder. The nutmeg aside, there was little pressure this week and he played as well as was required - 6
Pete - Again gave the team some much-needed defensive cover but wandered out of position at times. Couldn't shoot for sh.. this week but made a good number of tackles - 6
Nez - Scored an impressive 6 goals but has to learn that his team-mates are not there to take the brunt of his frustrations. Let himself down with his outburst and will hopefully learn from this - 4
G-Man - Scored just two but showed some good aggression. Gave as good as he got from Nez and should not have been drawn into a slanging match with his own team mate - 5
Dancing - After last week's blunders he looked keen to make amends. Some neat touches, good bits of skill and 3 nicely taken goals, along with some good movement and reasonably good tackling, was enough to take this week's SURERANDOMALITY STARMAN - 7
Owen - Worries about his match-fitness were largely unfounded as he seemed to cope relatively well with the pace of the game. However his shooting was pretty awful and he netted just once. It would be good to see him in future games but other commitments may interfere - 6
